This organization is a network of women living with HIV/ AIDS (WLHAs) in the state of Rajasthan. It was founded and registered as a non-profit society in 2005 by a small group who joined hands to confront widespread gender and violence issues. Gradually, they developed into a state wide network of over 1000 members that empowers women to confront the societal, economic, medical and legal challenges they face to leading decision making processes that affect their lives. The organization also operates a care center for children living with HIV/ AIDs, whose parents former network members, have died of AIDs. Internship placement 1) Join project workers for capacity building: Address key issues like, stigma, discrimination, widow pension and employment under government schemes, property rights and social security schemes 2) Providing support at the care center for children living with HIV/ AIDS 3) Help educate affected people 4) Treatment and counseling of affected children & women 5) Assist with administrative work at the HIV center 6) Help organize various advocacy & campaigns
Highlights:
You'll be based in Jaipur (known as the Pink City) and will soon see why Jaipur considered one of India's best planned pre-modern cities. Our staff will pick you up at the Sanganer Airport and take you to our home-base. The first week will include an in-depth orientation covering local business etiquette, health and safety, cultural norms, and a crash course in survival Hindi. After a week of intensive orientation, you will work full-time at your internship for the next six weeks. During that time, we'll go on a couple of excursions, learn more about the issues facing India, connect with social innovators, and build new friendships.

Cost Include Description:
Breakfast will be served every day, but lunches are on your own. Most interns will eat at their workplace or will sometimes be invited to eat out with their co-workers. Dinner is served from Monday to Thursday, but not on Friday, Saturday or Sunday; this allows you to explore local restaurants or travel on the weekends.Excursions We will take two weekend trips from Jaipur. The first will be a trip to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage site considered to be the "Jewel of Muslim Art". Our second weekend trip will be a visit to the Hindu pilgrimage town of Pushkar, which is a cultural destination where we will also do a camel Safari with overnight camping.
