Arcadia University: University College Dublin Business Summer Internship

  Ireland
  • Dublin:
  • Dublin

Term: Summer
Dates: Summer session: 6 credits.

Description: The eight-week program consists of a six-week internship placement at a leading Irish company or non-profit organization. In addition to the internship, students are required to take a special module focusing on Irish history and culture: From Colony to Republic: The Making of Modern Ireland 1169-2007. This module is taught intensively during the first week of the program. Field trips to places of historical interest are an integral component of the module. The program culminates in a research project which students present to faculty and their peers at UCD.

Our internship manager works in conjunction with Irish colleagues to provide a broad range of intellectually engaging internships based on your field of interest, internship goals, and skills. A sample of the placement areas available are listed below:

Arts & Culture
Business, Finance & Economics
International Studies, International Relations
Health services & Social Issues
Marketing, Public Relations & Advertising
Recreation, Leisure & Hospitality

An essential element of the UCD Summer Internship is for students to experience Irish society and culture through an extensive series of excursions and field trips in Dublin and across the island of Ireland. Typical activities may include: a Wicklow Mountain Walk, a hurling match, a trip to the West of Ireland, a castle tour, Irish dancing and traditional Irish music.

You'll be assessed on an academic project that you research and write and is based on your work experience. At the start of your internship, you will attend an orientation session that will help to ensure your smooth transition to the workplace. Near the end of your placement, you will have a debriefing session to help you effectively review and analyze your professional experience.
