The Nanosystems Initiative Munich (NIM) is inviting master students with a strong background in natural sciences or engineering to join us for eight weeks of compelling and demanding nanotechnology research starting on 1 July, 2010. On each of the sixteen projects in Munich, Großhadern and Augsburg one or two participants are matched with a graduate fellow acting as a research mentor. As a participant you will collaborate with other international students to * Work on fascinating and demanding topics in Nano Sciences * Operate state of the art scientific equipment * Sharpen your scientific and technical skills * Develop your presentation and scientific writing abilities Research projects are currently offered in the following fields: * Analytical Transmission Electron Microscopy * Experimental Physics - Biological Physics * Fluorescence Applications in Biology (2) * Functional Nanosystems * Inorganic Chemistry (2) * Nanothermodynamics * Physical Chemistry - Materials Science (6) * Theoretical Physics - Molecular Electronics * Theoretical Solid State Physics
Highlights:
Scientific education is not the only intent of the program, since the students can also experience German culture and life-style. A supporting program will be organized with weekend trips to touristic destinations and other informal activities. For your successful participation you will receive: * Confirmation of participation * Confirmation of the NIM Student Research Award * 12 ETCS Credit Points
Qualifications:
To be eligible, applicants are expected to: - pursue their Master studies. - provide evidence of excellent academic records. - plan to pursue a scientific career in the Nano Sciences. - provide proof of successfully completed TOEFL or IELTS. - be willing to perform full-time research, sometimes with late night and weekend work. - participate in the supporting program (weekend trips, seminars).

Cost Include Description:
Registration fee and deposit for accommodation. The deposit will be returned at the end of the program.
Salary / Pay: Flights to and from Munich, Accommodation, Social Program, Public Transport Tickets, ᆲ720 towards Living Expenses.
