Highlights: Stirling (pop. 42,000) is the college town of Scotland, and rightly so since 25% of the population is between 16 and 29 years of age. A completely walkable town, Stirling is a city full of history and buildings to prove it. Most notable is Sir William Wallace's monument--a 246-step stairway leading up to his human-like statue equipped with a five-foot sword stretching out to Stirling Bridge.

Understand the film Braveheart, with Mel Gibson, and how it immortalized Wallace and Stirling showing the Scots defeating the English in a battle in 1297.

Walk an evening with classmates during a "haunting," tours through town at night where ghosts are said to still linger.

Head for the hills bordering Stirling and hike mountains Ben Vorlich and Ben Ledi.

Bike or hop on the convenient public bus to the fields to play football (soccer), cricket, lacrosse, or rugby with any of the 45,000 residents of Stirling can be had.

This "college town of Scotland" is ideal for students looking to do an internship. A large core of diverse business and organizations gives the students many opportunities. It's also a great place for open-air days at the beach or atop beautiful mountains, to learn how to play some intense English sports, and have fun at night with workmates in some of the best English pubs, theatres, and sports events in all of the United Kingdom.
