Description:
The Australian National Internships Program (ANIP) was established at the Australian National University (ANU) in 1993. The Program provides access to internship placements for Australian and overseas university students. These placements can be with the Parliament, the Australian Public Service, the Australian Capital Territory Assembly or Service, or with non-government and community organizations. ANIP placements are not mere work experience; the student must complete a significant research project to the satisfaction of both the placements and the academic assessors. "SUNY Brockport study abroad programs are for students matriculated in the US only, US students only."
Highlights:
Interns will spend between 12-15 weeks in their internship placements. The organization will help them learn the functions of the organization and their role in it. Students will submit internship logs, keep a journal of their experience, submit copies of functional reports prepared for the organization and prepare a final report summarizing all their activities and involvements, with relevant analytical comments on the experience as a whole. Completion of a substantial research report while placed for about two months in a work environment-enables a student to gain an understanding of the policy process in Australia. Successful interns are self-motivated and resourceful, and tend to be in the third or fourth year of studies of an undergraduate. Each student will have two supervisors - one academic, the other in the office or institution in which s/he is placed - with whom are negotiated a contract specifying the nature of the research project to be undertaken. The supervisors will assist in the direction of the research.
