Internships in Japan
Japan
Term: Fall, Spring
Dates: Please contact IES for more information.
Description:
Since 1950, IES has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in almost 30 programs throughout the world. As part of the mandatory seminar course "Social Organization in Japan," all IES Tokyo students have a field experience placement (like an internship) in a Japanese organization. Students are given the opportunity to request a particular type of placement and general area of interest. With permission from the student's home school, the field experience may be considered an internship. Examples of past placements include working with refugees, designing a web site for a publishing firm, teaching English in a junior high school, conducting market research for a business, and assisting a city council representative. Placements can also be arranged in the arts, music, and traditional Japanese crafts.
