Description:
Want to study medicine or nursing at University but finding it tough to get on to a course? It's not easy - spaces are now hugely competitive, and to secure your place you need a rock solid application and relevant experience you can talk about in your interview. Gap Medics are here to help you gain that genuine first-hand knowledge of medicine and nursing, placing gap-year students in selected hospitals in Namibia, Nepal and Tanzania. Following intensive pre-placement training, you will become part of the team, gaining on-the-job experience alongside an appointed supervisor, as well as making a real contribution to the local community. On top of this, you also get the chance to explore some of the most beautiful destinations in the world. Now that really is making the most of your year out! Student Clarissa commented "I was devastated when I received 4 rejections to study medicine in my last year at school. A gap year and post A-level application was the only option so I spent 4 months on a medical placement in Africa. My personal statement was beyond recognition in the second application process. I was more confident in myself and in my decision to study medicine. I gained an invaluable insight into various aspects of global health in a developing country; from the management of infectious diseases to the implementation of preventive public health policies. I also met some of my best friends and climbed Kilimanjaro! My medical gap placement remains one of the best things I've ever done." We understand that living and working in a developing country can be a bit daunting, so we are happy to chat with you (or your parents or guardians) about any issues that you are worried about. The staff in our UK office know each destination inside out and our in-country teams are on hand to give you 24/7 support from the moment you arrive. We also provide accommodation and meals in a Gap Medics house, where the safety and security of our students is paramount. As the sister company of Work the World, the UK's leading provider of healthcare electives and professional placements overseas, we have over five years' experience placing students. We pride ourselves on the strong partnerships we have developed with universities, overseas hospitals and clinics, government authorities and NGOs and we follow a strict ethical policy that supports sustainable ventures overseas, employs local staff and financially supports the hospitals and supervisors we work with. Gap Medics this is your chance to make the most of your gap year, so book now and explore a world of medicine!
