Description: The New Zealand Equine or Thoroughbred industry is well developed but very small. Many of the studs or farms that you will be placed on have produced national and even international race winning horses. Many of the studs you will be placed on for your equine internship will be small and often family run. You will be working with a small team including the farm owner and other workers.

* Where will I be placed: Up to you...

We can place you into most areas of New Zealand, however the majority of our equine placements are into the North Island in the Waikato area. This area of New Zealand is big for farming and is home to many of New Zealand's top sport horse studs. The weather is warmer, the sun shines longer and the grass grows quicker than in the South Island of New Zealand.

* Will I be paid

You will be paid an allowance on most farms, but to be honest everyone we have placed into New Zealand for a equine internships has said they are not doing it for the money. All equine placements include free board and food while you are working, which means your living costs will be next to nothing. On top of this each stud will pay you an allowance that will be agreed on before you arrive in New Zealand.

* What's included in the Programme: We help you every step of the way

Intern Options is run by New Zealander's so we know New Zealand well and can help you with all of your key decisions from how to find insurance to where in New Zealand to travel to.

More importantly we will help you prepare for your trip to New Zealand properly and you will have a New Zealand point of contact outside of the stud you are placed on if you have any questions or concerns.

When to Apply?
There are no application deadlines and Equine positions are available all year round. We need between 2 and 3 months to find you a great placement on a New Zealand sport horse stud but the longer you can give us the better placement we can find you.

Cost of the Programme?
The total programme cost for our New Zealand Equine Programme is GBP 750. This is made up of a GBP 300 deposit with your application to allow us to start talking to employers on your behalf. Once we have found and negotiated you a placement then a final payment of GBP 450 to secure your position is required.
