Community Education and Health Awareness Programme

Highlights: Nepal as a developing country has a lot to do in the community development as the literacy of women is about 40 per cent only and the quality of education in the public school is extremely below the satisfactory level for various reasons. One of the major problems in communities in Nepal is the lack of awareness among the community members regarding the health, sanitation, environment and education. As majority of them are illiterate, they have not been able to adopt the safety measures in their day to day behavior.

The Community Education and Health Awareness Programme is an integrated preventative health and life skills development intervention that aims to improve awareness and skills in relation to nutrition, personal hygiene and sanitation, addictions and mental health, sexual and reproductive health, HIV/AIDS, Civic awareness etc. The aim of this programme is to ensure that the communities are aware of the major health risks they face and make them able to know how to minimize these risks. VIN has been carrying out a non-formal interactive sessions addressing above mentioned key issues.

Qualifications: To work as an intern or a volunteer with Volunteers Initiative Nepal, you must be flexible enough. You must send your expected outputs and check with the programs whether it's a better fit for you. Remember: you are planning to work in a developing country and you may find many things very different which otherwise you may not have experienced in your life!
