Come and promote PEACE in Paradise! PEACE Isla Mujeres is a nonprofit organization, established in January of 2008, created to improve the community of Isla Mujeres, Mexico by providing support to established nonprofit/community groups and developing initiatives focused on educational opportunities, youth development, environmental responsibility, animal care and protection and economic empowerment. PEACE Isla Mujeres operates as a community foundation engaged in grant making and fund raising to support various social causes on Isla Mujeres, Mexico. We have also established ourselves as a convener, consultant, and a nonprofit community network. Our work is focused on the following organizational goals: - Support for existing nonprofit/community groups that have a proven track record of responding to community needs - Support and assistance in the development of new nonprofit/community initiatives - Support for short-term, one-time, and/or emergency response projects. We are seeking a part-time (approx. 15 hours/week) Communication Coordinator to assist our Executive Director with implementation of our overall communications strategy including: - Electronic Newsletters - Hardcopy Newsletters - Website updates and maintenance - Marketing; Communication pieces aimed at fund raising and community awareness - Other organizational handouts as needed

Qualifications:
- Desire to help further the mission and vision of PEACE Isla Mujeres - Bachelor's degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing or Public Relations - Strong written communication skills - Experience in nonprofit work or desire to learn - Experience in fundraising - Personal laptop computer with Microsoft Office - Familiarity with Mexican culture - Min. 90% Fluency in written and spoken English - Min. 40% Fluency in written and spoken Spanish

There are no fees associated with this volunteer position.

Salary / Pay: Volunteer/Intern is responsible for all living expenses including transportation, housing and personal expenses. While we are unable to offer a stipend or housing at this time, we are more than happy to assist in helping to identify housing for interested volunteers.
