Description:
Would you interested in participating in bird monitoring? If you like to learn about different bird species, how to identify them, their ecosystems and habitats, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved and make this experience unforgettable! Position description: The ecovolunteer has to be an enthusiastic and responsible person, who is able to achieve goals in a specific time. The person will be committed to completing tasks with or without supervision. Certified experience in surveying, bird banding and monitoring is needed. Activities: - Install nets at specific places given by the reserve director. - Take notes of field data. - Extraction birds from nets with supervision - Help on bird surveying at sampling locations - Document birds by recognizable photographs and voice recordings Optional Activities: - Hiking to near mountains and rivers; - Birding on days off. Duration: The minimum time required is one (1) month. Ecovolunteers will work 40 hours per week. Working schedule is 6:00-10:00 AM and 2:00-6:00 PM depending on season. The Project will start every Monday exception holidays. Ecovolunteers are allowed to have two days off every week. This has to be agreed by the manager. Qualifications:
The ecovolunteers must be older than 18 years old, flexible to work on field in hard conditions and able to work without supervision. Persons with studies in biology, ecology, biology conservation or related areas are strongly preferred. Experience associated with bird surveying, monitoring, banding etc, are evaluated.

As an Ecovolunteer you are able to support a project in two different ways: by working and by paying. Depending on the project, you have to be available for at least four weeks. The length of your stay, your previous education and your experience will determine the kind of work that you do.What is included in the fee? - Assistance before, during and after your trip: information about the program, destination, vaccinations, visas and references. - Supervising during your staying at the placement - Professional and research experience on field - 24 hour-a-day assistance, 7 days a week in Colombia, to make sure you receive the best quality and service. - Food and staying at the project - Materials, equipment and transportation for research operations - Participation certificate
