JDCA Placements Opportunities for Foreign Candidates Contemporary Indian artist, Jatin Das, originally from Orissa, now based in New Delhi is setting up a unique and unusual art center for the conservation and promotion of traditional and contemporary art. The JD Centre of Art (JDCA) will be based in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa. It is a non-commercial institution. (Additional details about JDCA enclosed). Foreign placements will work in New Delhi and in Orissa. Place of work - New Delhi New Delhi, the metropolitan city and capital of India is based in the northern part of the country and experiences four seasons annually. One of the oldest capitals of the world, it is known for its rich cultural heritage and monuments and makes for a wonderful place to work. (Additional information about New Delhi enclosed). Place of work - Orissa Orissa is situated on the east coast of India and has a fantastic landscape of a sea coast line, rivers and lakes. Orissa is a region of rich cultural heritage, dance, music, architecture and temples, but in the present day it is cut off from the mainstream. Jatin Das originates from Orissa and has therefore chosen to rejuvenate the traditions of the region and the contemporary situation with an arts centre. The capital of Orissa is Bhubaneshwar and is a temple city with kind and simple people. Projects * JDCA based in Bhubaneshwar, Orissa with a coordination office in New Delhi * Proposed national Pankha, hand fan museum (New Delhi) * JDCA Film Forum Archive and National documentary film festival on art and artists (Orissa) * Book publication on paintings, pankha, poems Job Profile: - Proposal writing(experienced person) - Fund raising (experienced person) - Study, research, documentation and archiving for hand fan museum - Study, research, documentation and archiving for JDCA in house collection - Organizing, archiving, cataloguing photographs, slides, CDs and DVDs of JD artworks - Editing of manuscripts - Publication of books on painting, pankha, handcrafts and poems The JDCA is sponsored and funded through the sale of the artist's paintings for the last ten years. It is the artist's intent to create an exciting, collaborative project with the potential to grow. Longer terms of placement are preferred (6 months) as well as a preference for candidates to return to JDCA for additional placements. JDCA is looking for candidates for placements of 3 months, 6 months and 1 year. Please indicate: - Interest in duration of placement - If you would like a one time placement of if you would be interested in returning on an annual basis - Would you be interested in a permanent placement leading to an honorarium and thereafter a salary? Eligibility: - A recent graduate with an educational background in Architecture, Art History, Design, English Literature, Sociology, Anthropology, Museology, Photography, Mass Communication or Philosophy - Proficiency in English - Honest, committed, sincere, proactive, young and energetic - No gender bias We offer: - A friendly collaborative work environment - Refreshments and lunch together - Open and free interaction JDCA facilities and arrangements: - Residence decent, clean and comfortable with a kitchenette - Food (All three meals will be provided) - Refreshments at work - Pure drinking water - Laundry facility will be provided once a week - All office facilities including computer and fax - Telephone for all local calls; International calls are the responsibility of the candidate - Doctor on call - Local transportation from the place of stay to the office will also be provided - Work six days a week Sundays and Holidays - Special tours will be organized for the candidates to visit museums, monuments, art galleries, theater, dance and cultural activities - Interns will have an opportunity to attend many traditional festivals Requirements: - Inform JDCA of all their movements for their safety and well-being - Provide medical history and any other serious medical conditions of which JDCA should be aware - Provide all the emergency contacts that the institution may require for any contingency - Arrive with appropriate clothing including light woolen clothes for winter
