Study and Intern Abroad in Pune

Highlights: KEI's Onsite Director and Symbiosis support staff are available to assist students during the entire program. On arrival, students will be met at the airport and transferred to campus. A comprehensive orientation will introduce students to life in India and cover the following topics:
    * using public transportation
    * registration
    * academic expectations
    * safety and security
    * cultural adaptation
    * social activities to meet your fellow students
Students are placed in local and international companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), schools and humanitarian aid organizations. Medical and health administration internships are arranged at community clinics and hospitals.

Student Life:
Students live on campus in double-occupancy rooms. Each room is equiped with two beds, desks and dressers. Rooms are shared with Indian, international or American students - depending on your interest.

A meal plan is included in the program fee. The campus cafeteria offers a variety of Indian specialties. There is, of course, a myriad of restaurants and cafes to choose from in Pune. Compared to the USA, the cost of food is inexpensive.

Excursions:
    * Pune
    * Mumbai
    * Delhi
    * Agra (Taj Mahal)
    * Jaipur
    * Ajanta Ellora

The on-site staff also plans cultural excursions and organize social events to help students integrate into Indian society.

Be sure to ask your KEI Onsite Director for help!

Qualifications: Internships require a minimum commitment of 120 hours (3 credits), term paper and regular meetings with an internship supervisor. Note that most companies/organizations require a commitment of 240 or more hours (6 credits). Students enrolled in an internship can enroll in 3 additional courses during the semester and 2 additional courses during the summer (2 months).

Students can also participate in community service at humanitarian organizations, schools, orphanages and other organizations. Community service does not require a minimum commitment; schedules are more flexible than for intenrships. There is no credit for community service. Students who need academic credit should consider the internship option.
