Programme Quality Intern Students Partnership Worldwide (SPW) demonstrates and promotes a youth-led approach to development, implementing internationally recognised health education and livelihoods programmes across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. SPW has doubled in size over the past three years and is on course to continue both expansion and development of quality in line with the SPW Global Strategic Framework. The International Programme Quality Directorate has been established to optimize the impact of SPW programmes across all our 11 Country programme offices, ensuring quality standards for all of SPW's work. Following from several Programme Quality Conferences in 2008, SPW has produced Draft Standards Chapters for 9 core areas of SPW's work. The Programme Quality Directorate is now looking for support to produce 'How To' guides for Country Programmes to pilot test these new Standards Chapters. SPW is looking for an ambitious intern, with experience of the development sector and of delivering development programmes, to assist with this exciting project. This is a unique opportunity to make a real and sustainable impact across SPW's international programmes!
Highlights:
Pre-Placement Preparation * Briefing with SPW UK/International * Cultural briefing by SPW UK * Logistical briefing by SPW UK Support during Placement * Welcome, logistical support and orientation on arrival and during placement. * International Senior Manager Programme Quality to provide detailed briefing on the process of developing PQ Compendium and introduction to each chapter/guide in the compendium. * Discussions with (Senior) Programme Managers and/or Programme Quality point persons at SPW Country Programme level for understanding the nuts and bolts of programming; how PQ Compendium fits into the programme and any experiences in implementing the PQ chapters/guides. Accommodation/Logistical Arrangements * Airport pickup and drop * Candidates responsible for covering the cost of flight * Reservation in a comfortable clean hotel (GBP 30 per day is needed to cover accommodation and food) * A work-space will be provided, however the consultant will need to bring their own laptop
Qualifications:
Skills and experience necessary * 1-2 years experience in the development sector * Experience of delivering development programmes in the field * Strong writing skills * Good analytical skills * Able to work independently * Strong communication skills
