Description:
The Communication and Development (CD) Coordinator will be responsible for developing and implementing Un Mundo's fundraising and marketing strategy. This would include primarily communication to external audiences in Honduras and abroad and occasional communication within the Cuenca Cangrejal. The CD Coordinator will manage and update all existing communication medians, such as the Un Mundo's website and bi-annual newsletter. In addition, this person will work closely with the Directors to further develop and implement the Un Mundo fundraising strategy and tactics.
Highlights:
Primary Responsibilities: - Develop and implement a communication plan to increase Un Mundo's visual presence domestically and internationally - Manage existing Un Mundo website and blog - Research updating the Un Mundo website and work with Directors to redesign existing site - Research Having a Spanish Translated version of our website - Assist Directors with advertising strategy for recruiting volunteers and donors - Ensure websites and books are kept up to date with Un Mundo information and current offerings - Design and publish Un Mundo Newsletter every six months - Manage, compile and organize all visual documentation of Un Mundo projects and programs (videos and photos) - Work with Un Mundo's Directors to develop 2009 and 2010 fundraising plan - Research existing and new funding options (grants, events, drives, etc.) - Research, compile and compose Un Mundo project grants - Organize and plan fundraising events and campaigns for Un Mundo with Directors - Develop and implement marketing strategy as a means as a means for generating more funds - Design communication materials for fundraising events (for example invitation or press releases) - Work closely with Education and Community Development Coordinator to develop projects that combine Art and various media forms to educate people on specific issues, topics or projects - Support Directors with administrative responsibilities during specific deadlines such as mailings or events - Attend specific community events (i.e. community meetings) - Assist with gathering baseline research such conducting interviews within communities in the Cuenca Cangrejal - Participate in occasional infrastructural projects for Un Mundo projects or buildings - Maintain and clean all public (office spaces) and private (personal living quarters) spaces
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates should be interpersonally adroit, adventurous, extremely flexible in one's work and living situation, a good communicator, and ready to work in a challenging environment. Maturity and the ability to self-motivate are critical. This is a "peace corp" type positions, located in a remote, jungle-like area in Northern Honduras serving subsistence communities along the Cangrejal River Valley. There is a minimum 6-month commitment. Housing will be provided. Chosen candidates will be expected to live with a family for at least the first month of service, thereafter additional living options are available. Writing skills and natural creativity are required for success in this position and Spanish is a plus but not required.
