Washington, D.C.-Oxford Internship Program
England
Term: Summer
Dates: Inquire for specific dates
Description:
The Washington, D.C.- Oxford Internship Program enables students to combine two sought-after academic experiences--study abroad and a tailored internship. Providing an integrated academic and work experience in a comparative and global context, the 10 week program will be offered each summer. The program begins with a ten day seminar in Washington, D.C., including an orientation, academic work, and other programming. At the end of this seminar in D.C., students will fly to England, where, for the remainder of the summer term, they will complete an internship, courses, and other programming.
Highlights:
While in D.C., students will live in fully-furnished, metro-accessible apartments with other Washington Center interns. Once students travel to Oxford, they will live in fully-furnished housing with other Washington Center interns and/or with other students from around the world. Oxford is set in the English countryside an hours train ride from London. Home to Oxford University, the oldest university in the English-speaking world, it is particularly rich in intellectual and cultural resources. The ancient architecture of Oxford is surrounded by a thoroughly contemporary cityscape; as a whole, the town provides a wide array of internship possibilities. The Washington, D.C. Oxford Internship Program provides students a unique opportunity to gain international academic and work experience. Through this program students have the opportunity to expand their worldview, grow as a global citizen, develop skills and participate in activities that the classroom setting cannot provide and make lasting friends and professional, international contacts.
Degree Level: Bachelors Degree (Undergraduate)
Qualifications:
Applicants should be enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university as second-semester sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students at the time they take part in the program (international students enrolled in U.S. institutions are warmly welcomed). Applicants should have at least a 3.25 grade point average on a 4-point scale. They must receive academic credit from their institution for their participation in the internship program, and their application must have the endorsement of their campus liaison (or if their campus does not have a liaison, an academic sponsor). The Washington Center does not grant academic credit. A limited number of applicants will be accepted, so early application is encouraged.
