Scholarship Available for Study in India

Durations of Program: 2-4 weeks, 5-8 weeks and 9-12 weeks
Typical Duration of Program: 2-4 weeks
Dates: February March and April 2009

Description: Scholarship available for deserving international students with demonstrated interest in the respective field of study, who are interested to study/ volunteer in India.

The objective of the scholarship is to support deserving international students who wish to study in India. Scholarships will be awarded on a merit and/or hardship basis. Priority would be accorded to those who demonstrate a keen interest in respective area of study and who want to gain further experience in the subject, who have some familiarity / prior experience in the mentioned subjects and must be interested or currently pursuing related studies and / or those who have had limited opportunity to travel abroad and/or no prior international travel experience.

The following Programs are on offer:

1) Medical internship in rural / tribal villages with limited or no health facilities.
2) Clinical rotation in an urban/slum setting.
3) Teaching positions in rural and tribal villages.
4) Grassroots community development programs.
5) Traditional medicine program
6) Film and Media Internship in Mumbai

Scholarships are available for the months of February March and April 2009 only.

Highlights: ISAC Programs are highly individualized and offer wide range of opportunities to individuals within the broad framework of the program.

Volunteers can immerse themselves into India's rich and vibrant culture and get great opportunities to involve in local festivals and celebrations. India is an extremely hospitable culture based on the principles of "Athithi devo bhava" or " Guests are equivalent to God"

Qualifications: Medical programs are ideally suited for medical/ pre-medical students.
For all other program, no special skills or experience is necessary

    Pre-departure orientation and support, airport pickup, transport to placement, work support and monitoring, 24 hour emergency support, personal cellular phone,Accommodation on sharing basis in volunteer guest house. All meals included. (Vegetarian Indian cuisine)

  • Typical Volunteer: Participants must be over 18 years of age easygoing and flexible. They must be committed to working with underserved communities and be able to live in rural areas. Volunteers must be open minded, willing to take initiative to contribute and learn from their environment and be respectful to their surroundings. The students should be able to adjust to inconveniences caused due to disturbances in power supply and water supply in the remote areas. Students need to respect the local traditions and norms of the community they stay with and be careful not to disturb others in any manner.

    Age Range: 18-50

    This Program is open to Worldwide Participants. This Program is also open to Families, Couples and Individuals
