The Trainee Program offers international students and young professionals from around the world the unique opportunity to gain valuable practical training experience in the US for up to 18 months. By participating in a program of practical training that relates to their specific field of study or chosen career path, Trainees are able to gain knowledge and skills that will promote their future career development. The Trainee Program is a mutually rewarding experience for both Trainees and the companies that host them. Through structured on-the-job training, international students and young professionals learn useful American methodologies and professional techniques, while helping Host Companies to internationalize and diversify their workplace. This a program that offers non-students, graduates and young professionals the unique opportunity to gain international training in the US. US employers are eager to introduce international trainees, who often bring fresh ideas and new perspectives to the workplace. You'll make valuable contacts, learn about the latest developments in your field and gain firsthand insight into American business culture. It's the kind of experience that will provide a serious boost to your career credentials.
Highlights:
To participate in the Intern/Trainee Program, your organization must be able to provide a structured, practical training experience while abiding by some key program regulations. Because the purpose of the J-1 Intern/Trainee program is to foster professional exchange, the Host Organization is expected to ensure that the Training/Internship Placement Plan, is followed for the duration of the program. You must also be able to provide the intern or trainee with the following: * A proper workspace and any necessary equipment related to the proposed program; * Ongoing professional supervision, evaluation, guidance and support throughout the program; * Orientation to the workplace and to the local community.
Qualifications:
For Internship USA, the basic eligibility criteria are as follows: * Applicants must be students enrolled on a full-time basis at a nationally accredited post-secondary institution or recent graduates within 12 months of graduation. * Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. * Applicants must have sufficient English language skills to function in a business setting. * The applicant's academic program/course of study must be at least one year in duration and result in some form of degree, qualification, certification, etc. * Proposed training program must demonstrate a correlation to the applicants program of study or degree area. * If the applicant has previously participated in an Internship USA program they must show that desired training is not a duplication to previous training or work experience. For Professional Career Training USA, the eligibility criteria are as follows: * Trainees must either be graduates of foreign post-secondary institutions with one year of work experience outside the US related to their field of their training, or have five years of relevant work experience outside the US. * Applicants must have graduated from secondary school. * Applicants should be between the ages of 20 and 40. * Applicants must have sufficient English language skills to function in a business setting. * If the applicant has previously participated in a PCT program they must show that desired training is not a duplication to previous training or work experience. All PCT participants must observe a 2-year hiatus in their home-country before returning on another PCT program.
