Highlights:
Over the last couple of years interns have became an integral part of the SAE. The longer time frame of most interns gives them the opportunity to make a long lasting contribution to the club. The club also has much to give an intern in exchange; beyond the amazing experience of working and living in Peru, Argentina or Ecuador an intern has the chance to: * Develop Professional skills with diverse and expanding programs * Work with an international staff * Develop language skills * Develop interpersonal communications * Work with resource management * Develop self-proposed initiatives * Work face to face with a diverse cliental
Qualifications:
Time: A minimum of 10-15 weeks (400-600 hours) is required. Exceptions can be made but a smaller time frame fails to allow for the proper design and implementation of each intern's required special project. Education: The completion of high/secondary school is a must, preferably some university. A large amount of both written and verbal communication is used within and between the clubhouses so the ability to write and speak fluently in English is a must. Computer literacy is also a needed skill; the office is based on a PC/Window system using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Express. Language: A decent working knowledge of Spanish is a huge asset. We handle a large amount of correspondence in Spanish as well as just being able to deal with day-to-day situations that arise. That is not to say all of our past interns have been fluent. A willingness to learn goes a long way. Travel Experience: Normally we like long-term volunteers to have travel experience in Latin America (travel in Peru is a plus). We spend a good deal of the day just interacting with members, and it's imperative to have a good base of knowledge. That's not to say that you have to have been everywhere, but sounder advice definitely comes with first-hand experience.
