Indicorps seeks an editor or academic writer to edit and publish Indicorps Fellows' green papers and to manage the current cycle's green paper process. Indicorps fellows are required to submit a "Green Paper" at the culmination of their year-long fellowship. This individual paper (15-20 pages), either in the form of a case study or research paper, is the most detailed writing project for the fellowship year. The paper encourages fellows to think critically, methodically and creatively. The research paper seeks to make a formal contribution to the field of development. The Internship: Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: * Review previously drafted green papers * Edit papers for organization, style, and clarity * Check sources and bibliography * Work closely with authors to finalize papers * Submit papers for publication to various academic journals and other appropriate development organizations * Develop a strategy to publish green papers online with Indicorps or through another format * Manage the current cycle's green paper writing process and provide feedback on outlines, and first drafts, etc.

All internships will be based at the Indicorps office in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Unlike the Indicorps fellowship program, January 09 Internships are NOT limited to people of Indian origin. All internships begin on 10 January 2009 with a mandatory one-week orientation program. Only 8-10 positions are available. Application deadline is 15 November or until positions are filled. Qualifications:
Requirements: * Previous experience editing and proofreading journals, or academic-style papers or as a research assistant (college professor, research-based organization, etc.) * Ability to review text for clarity, concision, and consistency * Familiarity with standard academic formatting and citation styles (APA, MLA, Chicago Manual of Style, and others) * Familiarity with MS Office applications a must, especially MSWord * Attention to detail and passion to create high quality papers for publication * Knowledge of academic journals and other appropriate outlets for publication * Interest in development topics and research processes
Salary / Pay: The internships are unpaid. You will receive a Rs. 2000 per month stipend to help cover your daily living expenses. Interns will be required to provide for their own travel to and from India as well as any other incidental expenses.
