Intern in Argentina
Argentina
- Buenos Aires:
Buenos Aires
- Cordoba:
Cordoba
Term: Throughout the year
Dates: Various start dates
Description:
Through this internship, currently enrolled university students and recent graduates can gain valuable professional experience in a Latin American country that draws more than 3 million tourists per year. Argentinas modern and sophisticated capital city, Buenos Aires, possesses both a European atmosphere and an old-world cultural heritage that combine to create one of the most intriguing environments in the world. This interesting mix of traditions is what brings so many tourists each year to experience such regional diversity as the passion of Argentinean tango, the grandeurs of both European architecture and the thriving art scene, as well as the richness of natural wonders that this beautiful South American region has to offer. Often called the Heartland of Argentina, Cordoba was the first capital of the country before Buenos Aires. It is now considered the second most important city in Argentina, with a contemporary and rapidly growing economy. This citys history intermingled with its modern buildings and excellent location makes Cordoba a very popular travel destination. Tourists come from all over to listen to the regional music (called cuarteto), to visit the many museums and architectural monuments that recall the citys colonial past, or to go exploring the unique natural environment that Cordobas extremely mild climates facilitate. ** Participants acceptance into this internship program is dependent upon their level of education, their professional experience, and their proficiency with the Spanish language.
Highlights:
Accommodations: During their Internship, participants will live with an Argentinean family either by themselves or with a small group of other interns volunteering in their city. Participants will be provided with 2 meals per day, from Monday to Saturday (no meals will be provided on Sundays). Even though some host families may be able to launder participants clothes, participants should plan to spend around $4.50 USD per week on laundry. In addition, although living with a host family will give participants an invaluable insight into the real Argentina, participants may also choose to live in a student residence facility on a local school campus (for an additional fee). If participants are interested in this option, they should contact AIDE for more details. Language Classes: For those who need them, optional language classes are available in Buenos Aires. Classes are held prior to the start of participants internships, and participants will be placed in a small group to receive lessons.
