Description:
Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU):
Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU) was founded in 1962, and is approved by the Chinese Ministry of Education. It is the only international university in China with its main task set at teaching the Chinese language and culture to foreign students. The beautiful garden-like campus, located in the Zhongguancun Science and Technology Zone and covering an area of 38 hectares, provides a quiet and comfortable learning environment.

It has more than 40 fully equipped language labs and multi-media classrooms, including some exclusively designed for phonetic training. All classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with modern aural comprehension training facilities.

University Fast Facts:
* BLCU has the longest history, the largest scope, and the most qualified teaching faculties of its kind in the area of teaching the Chinese language and culture to foreigners.
* Among 700 faculty members, more than 300 are professors and associate professors. Nowadays, more than 9,000 international students from over 110 countries and over 8,000 Chinese students study at the University each year.
* BLCU distinguishes itself by its unique cultural atmosphere of diversity, which attracts a large number of students from both home and abroad. Since the founding of the University, more than 60,000 students from over 160 countries and regions have stepped out into the world from here over the past 40 years. Among them, some have become distinguished diplomats, sinologists and journalists; 14 once worked as foreign ambassadors to China and more than 30 are diplomats working in the embassies to China.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University:
Shanghai Jiao Tong University was founded in 1896, and is one of the oldest universities in China. The University, through its century-long history, has nurtured large numbers of outstanding figures and made significant contributions to the prosperity of the nation and the development of science and technology jobs.

* Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), directly subordinate to the Ministry of Education, is a key university in China, jointly run by the Ministry and Shanghai municipality.

* It boasts 20 academic schools with more than 1,420 professors and associate professors, including 15 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 20 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

* More than 100 famous scientists and specialists as honorable professors or consulting professors, including the physicists and Nobel prize winners.
* Jiang Zemin, former President of the Peoples Republic of China, is a graduate.
* Founded in 2003 the Academic Ranking of World Universities, an organization comprised of Jiao Tong faculty and staff that rank universities worldwide.
* There are 19,432 undergraduates, 13,628 candidates for Masters Degree and Doctors Degree, and 2,080 foreign students during the 2008 school year.

2. A Panrimo Coordinator available 24/7 in host country for student support.
3. On-site orientation: The Panrimo Coordinator welcomes all students to the host city, discusses cultural nuances and customs, and shows them around the city and how to use transportation, and acclimates each student to the new cityall before the first day of class.
4. Entry packet before departure: A booklet to help students know what to expect abroad, what to pack, how much money to gage spending, city emergency information (telephone numbers, hospitals), when and where to go for cultural events, cultural sites, cultural customs and norms, city map, list of local grocery stores and food markets with detailed map, directions, hours, and more. This entry packet is specific to each host city, and contains general study abroad information.
5. Personalized advising: To best prepare you for life abroad, Panrimo assigns you a personal study abroad advisor to advise you on your application, payment procedures, and to answer any questions you may have about your Panrimo Program.
6. An official transcript for your home university to evaluate.
7. A customized program budget.
