Since 1950, IES has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. The IES Melbourne program offers direct enrollment at the University of Melbourne, an outstanding research and teaching university, along with a unique internship program that provides students with the opportunity to experience the Australian workplace. IES' close relationship with the Australian Centre (based within the Faculty of Arts) on the University of Melbourne campus supports distinctive elements of the IES program: internships, special housing opportunities with young Australians, and field study trips that offer students an unusual opportunity to experience the Australian environment and meet outstanding researchers as well as encounter indigenous peoples.
