Description: These programs allow the participant to learn medical and general Spanish and to have a significant international health and cultural health experience in the process, while supporting community based training in Latin America in medical care. Here are the different programs we offer:

* Pre-med / Pre-professional / Pre-clinical - This program is designed for people on a medically related career path who have not not had much clinical experience. In the summer Pre Clinical Program, we train participants in NREMT approved First Provider course (48 hours) including the American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification, as well as an additional 4 weeks on Medical Spanish training and Red Cross ambulance ride alongs. This program begins June 15th and lasts 6 weeks. It is perfect for Pre Med students and Medical Students between their 1st and 2nd years.

* Clinical Students - This program is especially designed for senior medical students and for PA and Nurse Practicioner students.   The program is typically one month long. We require a CV and a deposit one month prior to arrival (Health Ministry requirements). It is also your responsibility to obtain approval from your institution if you are seeking credit for your training with us, AAMC often requires 35 hours a week of clinical experience.

* Residency Program Elective - This program is especially designed for resident physicians who are seeking an international elective. The program is typically one month long. We require a CV and a deposit one month prior to arrival (Health Ministry requirements). It is also your responsibility to obtain approval from your institution if you are seeking credit for your training with us. Acording to ACGME requirements , a minimum of 25 hours clinical experience is required.

* Continuing Medical Education - This program is especially designed for practicing physicians and Physicians Assistants who are seeking to improve their ability to communicate with their Spanish speaking patients. The program is typically one month long. We require a CV and a deposit one month prior to arrival (Health Ministry requirements). We have provided Category I CME credits through the University of New Mexico.

* MedSpanish On-line - This is a program whereby students can schedule training at their own convenience. It is perfect for those preparing of the International MedSpanish Program or for those who require follow up training. We can also develope a program that does not involve any international component. In the future CME Credit will be available.

* MedSpanish International - The Medspanish program is working out training programs in Ecuador, Guatemala and other countries whereby the students will bring training equipment for the Advanced Life Support for Obstetrics program as part of the program. Learn Medical Spanish and decrease Maternal Mortality in the world!

These program are long established at a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our competitors are less experienced, are often retooled general Spanish schools and are not medical operations. We provide a significant Medical experience. Our students are allowed to participate in these exciting community based training activities in Mexico to the best of their abilities.

Highlights: These programs allow the participant to learn medical and general Spanish and to have a significant international health and cultural health experience in the process, while supporting community based training in Latin America in medical care.

MedSpanish Students receive 2-3 hour individualized Spanish Lessons with the remainder of the day the working in various clinical settings (Hospitals, clinics and ambulances) perfecting their communication and cultural skills. Practicing physicians and other health care personnel (about half are emergency medicine) generally stay 2 weeks. Medical students and residents typically stay 1 month, Summer pre clinical students stay for 6 weeks.

These program are long established at a UNESCO World Heritage site. Our competitors are less experienced, are often retooled general Spanish schools and are not medical operations. Many are assumed to be on a beach, but actually are in much less attractive and less safe urban environments. We provide a significant Medical experience. Our students are allowed to participate in these exciting community based training activities in Mexico to the best of their abilities.

You can find many cheaper program...but none better or safer!

Qualifications:
* Pre Med / Pre Clinical Program : Presently student in an accredited university in the United States or Canada. Some Spanish language background highly recommended, but not required. Six week program begining Mid June.
* Senior Medical Student : 4th Year US or student, approval from the Dean of Students for elective credit. Spanish recommended, not required.
* Medical Residency Program elective: PGY1 or higher in USGME accredited program, approval by Residency Program director or GME office, Spanish language background highly recommended
* Practicing health care professional: MD, RN or other heath care professional seeking CME, or CEU Credits.

If you are seeking a first world, highly structured environment (as you find in the US), this is not for you. The program is in a developing country.
