Description:
Studying is undertaken at the Premier College locations in Vancouver or Whistler, and is a combination of Hospitality training and workplace preparation for the hospitality and tourism industries. The program is specifically designed for you to master the communication and workplace skills needed to have confidence in working in Canada. Employers are looking for "workplace ready" employees and this program gives you the edge .... *Be introduced to the Canadian hospitality context and learn hospitality and resort specific procedures and language *Develop interpersonal communication skills across cultures *Develop awareness of the hospitality industry environment and the opportunities and challenges facing this growing industry *Learn how to apply initiative to workplace situations and implement and manage solutions to workplace challenges *Develop skills for anticipating and reconciling difference and conflicts *Increase awareness of the business and cultural influences that you will encounter during your work experience Internship will be undertaken in resorts and hotels in the Canadian West. The position you receive depends upon your attitude, communication skills, experience and training in the Hospitality or Guest Services. Typical positions are: *Back of House *Front of House *Food and beverage *Kitchen *Maintenance *Guest Services *Retail The wage varies from $8.00 per hour to $12.00 per hour. The work week varies from 30 to 40 hours per week. VPC is not responsible for the number of hours offered by employers to staff. Most positions are in hotels and resorts in Canada's tourism communities, including Whistler, Tofino, Banff, The Okanogan, Jasper, and The Rocky Mountain region. Accommodation is in staff housing and is included in your placement. You will share a room with 1 or 2 others. Your room mates will be from Canada, Australia, the UK, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, Switzerland, Germany and many other countries.

Qualifications:
*Minimum age: 19 *Proof of English proficiency: LPI 3.5, TOEIC 650, IELTS 5, TOEFL 500 PBT, 170 CBT or 65 ibT or pass VPC's English test *Valid student permit (if required) and valid work authorization *High School Graduates are welcome.
