Purpose: To improve the success of Puente's programs and trainings Location: Oaxaca City, Mexico, and some surrounding villages Time Commitment: Minimum three months, 25 hours per week Level of Spanish needed: Advanced Level of English needed: Advanced Responsibilities: Initially, this consultant will spend time observing and learning about Puente's current programs and workshops. After some time, the consultant will meet with the staff to offer suggested changes and improvements to the current programs. The Puente directors will indicate which areas of programming they would like the consultant to develop. The consultant might also provide useful trainings to the Puente staff on ideas to improve their workshop facilitation skills. In order to observe Puente's work firsthand and provide better feedback, this consultant will travel to rural communities often.
Highlights:
The Health Promotor Assistant offers an opportunity to experience the promotion of amaranth, a grain native to Mexico, uniquely suited to face some of Southern Mexico's greatest health risks. Through the community visits, the volunteer experiences first-had the diversity of the Oaxacan countryside, as well as the impact of a grassroots public health approach.
Qualifications:
- Strong background in facilitating trainings - Experience with non-profit organizations - Experience providing workshops to marginalized people - Ability to provide constructive feedback - Knowledge of public health, a plus!

Salary / Pay: The consultant opportunities are unpaid; however, occasionally a small stipend might be included. Most consultant positions are designed for those with a graduate level education or people with at least two years of paid experience in a similar position.
