Monitoring and Evaluation Consultant

Description:
Purpose: To assist Puente in conducting more thorough and precise evaluations of programs Location: Oaxaca City, Mexico Time Commitment: Mid-October through mid-January, 25 hours per week Level of Spanish needed: Intermediate Level of English needed: Advanced Responsibilities: Every November and December Puente conducts evaluations of its programs by interviewing all program participants. This consultant will work with the Puente directors to develop and improve the current evaluation process. This consultant will also input and analyze the data from the evaluations. Depending upon the intern's level of Spanish ability, he/she might also conduct some face-to-face evaluations with Puente's participants. In order to observe Puente's work firsthand and provide better guidance, at least once per week this consultant will be expected to visit a rural community.
Highlights:
The position of consultant offers an opportunity to experience the promotion of amaranth, a grain native to Mexico, uniquely suited to face some of Southern Mexico's greatest health risks. Through the community visits, the consultant experiences first-had the diversity of the Oaxacan countryside, as well as the impact of a grassroots public health approach.
Qualifications:
- Experience conducting evaluations for non-profit organizations - Knowledge of various types of monitoring and evaluation processes - Ability to provide constructive feedback on current procedures

Salary / Pay: The internship and consultant opportunities are unpaid; however, occasionally a small stipend might be included. All internships require a minimum commitment of two months except under special circumstances. Most internships are designed for those with a graduate level education or people with at least two years of paid experience in a similar position.
