Grant Writing Intern

Description:
Purpose: To raise money for Puente's programs
Location: Oaxaca City, Oaxaca
Time Commitment: Minimum three months, 25 hours per week
Level of Spanish needed: Basic         
Level of English needed: Fluent

Responsibilities:
This intern will research potential funding sources as well as write and edit grant proposals. This could include using the Foundation Center's online database. The intern might also be in charge of maintaining accurate information in the grants database.   One day per week, this intern has the opportunity to visit a rural community in order to observe Puente's work firsthand.

Highlights: An internship with Puente a la Salud Comunitaria offers an opportunity to experience the promotion of amaranth, a grain native to Mexico, uniquely suited to face some of Southern Mexico's greatest health risks. Through the community visits, the intern experiences first-had the diversity of the Oaxacan countryside, as well as the impact of a grassroots public health approach.

Qualifications:
- Excellent writing skills
- Previous grant writing experience
- Experience researching proposals and funding sources on the internet
- Knowledge of MS Access, a plus!

  • Salary / Pay: The internship is unpaid; however, occasionally a small stipend might be included. It requires a minimum commitment of two months except under special circumstances. Most internships are designed for those with a graduate level education or people with at least two years of paid experience in a similar position.
