Washington, DC Internship Program

Term: Fall, Spring, Summer

Description: The Washington, D.C., Internship Program offers a semester of study and work in the political and media center of the United States. The program combines a full-time internship with coursework on the legislative process, government, history, international relations, media, politics, and public policy. All classes are taught by full- and part-time adjunct Boston University faculty at the Boston University Washington Center. Upon successful completion of a semester, students earn 16 Boston University credits. An introductory course in either American Politics or International Relations is highly recommended prior to enrollment in this program. All participants enroll in one core course, two elective courses, and an internship. Internships normally run four days a week throughout the semester.

Highlights: The Washington, D.C. Internship Program offers a semester of study and work in the political and media center of the United States. Classes are taught at the Boston University Washington Center, both by distinguished scholars from the Boston University faculty and by part-time adjunct faculty chosen for their teaching expertise and records of accomplishment in their fields. Upon successful completion of a semester, students earn 16 Boston University credits. An introductory course in either American Politics or International Relations is highly recommended prior to enrollment in this program. All participants enroll in three courses and an internship. Internships normally run four days a week throughout the semester.

Qualifications: To be eligible, all applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and junior or senior status. As part of the admissions and internship placement processes, interviews are conducted in person or by telephone. Most internship placements are arranged before arrival in Washington, D.C. The Washington, DC Internship Program provides internship opportunities in almost every discipline; students from all fields are encouraged to apply.
