Description: India is a fantastic place to spend time volunteering or interning on an international medical placement in Asia. Volunteering on a Nursing or Midwifery project in India can be done as part of a college summer break, a gap year, a career-break, or during a vacation. As a Nursing or Midwifery volunteer you will gain a great deal of valuable work-experience alongside some of the most skilled doctors in the country. The facilities are generally on par with many hospitals in the west.

Whether you are a student joining us before going to a nursing or midwifery school, or already have nursing and midwifery knowledge and experience, the doctors in India are eager for you to be involved. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn - and also to help staff with their duties - will ensure that your experience is second to none.

There are many opportunities to work in Maternity clinics and multi specialty hospitals. As a Nursing or Midwifery intern, you will mostly observe births, caesarean sections, gynecological, and obstetric procedures. Our interns play an important role in providing emotional support to many patients.

Nursing and Midwifery in India with Projects Abroad

Highlights: The Indian subcontinent in south Asia is a land of beauty, spirituality and adventure. From the towering Himalayas that mark India's northern borderlands through to its plains, deserts and tropical rain forests, this is a country of awe-inspiring ancient temples and colorful tribal villages.

To live in India is to participate in a lifestyle that is unlike anything you'll experience in the West. The most mundane tasks often become adventures. Everything is colorful, nothing is predictable. Life especially in urban areas is truly chaotic. The sights, sounds and smells that greet you in each new place will overwhelm your senses.

Projects Abroad's Mission Statement: As part of the global economy, Projects Abroad helps create local employment wherever we send volunteers. Employing local staff overseas and using their talents and knowledge is important to us. This local knowledge and support enables the organization to channel the skills of the volunteers from more affluent countries to regions around the world where they are needed. Volunteers also learn from their placements and the people they meet, and they gain experience in a chosen field. In the 21st century, we believe this mutual respect is what cultural exchange is all about.

Year Founded: 1992
