Description:
Volunteer to help construct housing for the poor in Buenos Aires. In Buenos Aires and other provinces of Argentina, there is a great need for improved housing for impoverished families. Many families are living in homes constructed with inadequate materials and by people who are not qualified to build homes. this means they are exposed to dangerous conditions on a daily basis (unstable stuctures, lack of clean water, no electricity, no heat, etc.). Volunteers can work with an organization devoted to building homes for the families that need them the most. Current projects are located in the neighborhood of Gran Buenos Aires. A volunteer's exact duties will depend on the progress of projects as well as a volunteer's specific skills. Volunteers will assist with manual labor, construction, painting, planning, fund raising, and other projects. International volunteers are out to make a difference, and it is important to keep perspective on your ability and the big picture. Volunteers provide steps toward larger goals. Sometimes it can be difficult to keep that in mind when you see how much work needs to be done. Don't be overwhelmed, the impression that you leave behind is immeasurable. The most successful volunteers are flexible and able to adapt the daily activities to the given day--remember each day is different!
