Description:
Freedom House is a school for Burmese and hill tribe minority groups in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The school aims to provide education to both child and adult members of these communities who otherwise are not afforded any type of education. Key Responsibilities * To develop a comprehensive curriculum in English teaching for volunteer teachers. The curriculum must be applicable to beginning learners of English as a foreign language and it must be suitable for children ranging in age from 5-12 and adults. * To track daily student attendance to include information on their ethnicity and age. * To be at the centre during class times, which take place in two sessions from 10.00 to 12.00 and 18.00 to 20.00, Monday to Friday. * To coordinate volunteer teachers. This will mean being aware of when volunteers are due to arrive and which classes they will teach. A standard training will also be given by the intern to new volunteers at the beginning of their service at Freedom House. * To ensure that the school's 'task list' is completed by the appropriate date and time.
Highlights:
The appropriate intern will have the opportunity to be directly involved with memebers of ethnic minorities, learning about their backgrouds and situations in Thailand.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher or a strong background in curriculum development and supervision of workers.
