Description: Volunteering can be the experience of a lifetime and for some, a life changing experience. Volunteer Bolivia is an international volunteer organization that combines a volunteer service learning experience with a language immersion program for an unforgettable intercultural experience.

Short Term Volunteers

Short term volunteers are a crucial part of our program allowing us to fulfill the needs of a variety of childrens centers scattered around the periphery of Cochabamba. These centers provide services for: children whose mothers who work as maids; children of incarcerated parents; and children of low incomes families who need additional help with their schoolwork. These children are Bolivias latchkey kids. Their parents work long hours in the informal economy. Our volunteers work along side Bolivian educators helping children with their homework; designing arts and crafts projects for all ages; or providing a pair of desperately needed extra hands.

Long Term Volunteers

Long term volunteers, are those who stay with us more than five months, speak intermediate Spanish and/or are specialized volunteers who have an expertise that matches our Bolivian colleagues´ needs. Many long term volunteers contribute in a collaboratively designed volunteer position in a small local NGO helping in the office, translating, and/or working with the Bolivian staff. If you have a specialized skill, we can place you in your profession. In the past, long term volunteers have contributed as healthcare workers, physical therapists, graphic designers, by teaching advanced computer skills or in project development.

The country has a breathtaking myriad of attractions from dinosaur tracks and ancient ruins to steamy jungles and snow-capped mountains.

The city of Cochabamba offers a mind boggling cross section of neighborhoods from the newly settled migrant barrios of the zona sur to the post modern discos frequented by the wealthy.

Our offices are located in the bohemian section of town where artists and locals gather to drink coffee and discuss the countries ever fascinating political panorama.

Volunteer Bolivia- Cochabamba's Mission Statement: Volunteer Bolivia offers one of the best international volunteer programs in Latin America. It was founded in 2001 by Bolivians and foreigners with the goal of providing a bridge to understanding Bolivia and her people. We have grown to become the only in-country based volunteer organization in Bolivia. Located in Cochabamba, we offer a unique combination of Spanish language immersion, volunteer work and homestays. Our volunteers work in micro-enterprises, literacy centers, and children's services. We work with a wide range of humanitarian and social organizations providing an authentic service learning experience and the chance to make a difference.
