Description:
A thorough understanding of its clients' ability to repay their loans is key to the continued success of any microfinance institution. The Microfinance Program Assistant will work on a project to identify the segment of clients most likely to pay late or default on their loans. Tasks include: analyzing relevant institutional data and client files, interviewing clients, managers and credit officials and reviewing current institutional policies. The intern will produce a final report providing conclusions, supporting information and recommendations for future action. Interns must be available for a minimum of 8 weeks, but preference may be given to those able to stay longer. Start and end dates may be somewhat flexible. Please note: The Fundacion collects a fee of USD 350/month to help cover the costs of running the internship program; this includes the cost of housing which is provided for all interns.
Qualifications:
Qualities sought include: Spanish proficiency, strong interest in microfinance, ability to work independently, good research and writing skills and a desire to work both in the office and in the field.

Cost Include Description:
The program fee helps to cover the costs of administering the internship program, including the cost of housing which is provided for all interns. Interns are responsible for other costs, including their own travel to and from Paraguay, food, personal transportation, health insurance and incidentals. Most interns spend between USD 150 and USD 300 per month.
