Radio Simba is one of the few Kenyan radio stations that embrace creativity and originality. The station has achieved a lot in terms of curving a niche within the Kenyan media society having amassed an impressive number of listeners in Nairobi and other cities across the nation. This is the station of choice for the young and the old alike as it knows and gives what people want to hear. The station that is situated in Nairobi's Lavington Estate has received outstanding ovations and rating by a number of newspapers both local and international. Radio Simba strives to promote and preserve the swahili language in a way that is modern and creative. This is the only station that takes interesting journeys back in music while keeping the current music alive, hence, creating a comfortable balance for both the young and the old generations. The station's skilled presenters, have a way of making the audience feel appreciated and involved in the station's programs that are entertaining as they are educative and informative. There is always something to learn from Radio Simba, if it is not a new talented like an over looked artist in town, then it's some interesting fresh and hot information that can be caught on its news bulletins. At the radio station, one gets to have a first hand experience on how African radio stations are operated. Once oriented, an internr could help with various productions that include news and topical programs. Radio Simba is ran by highly qualified staff that is highly receptive to constructive ideas. In cases where a program is Swahili and one would like to help the producer(s) with it preparations, an intern can do this bit then have the work translated from English to Swahili. It will also be perfect chance to learn a key opportunity to learn the Swahili language. Swahili is widely spoken across Eastern and Central Africa, making it one of the most famous languages in Africa, it has infact been proposed to be the continent's official indigenous language.
Highlights:
Many who have visited East African cities, have an impression that, "Nairobi is East Africa's hub of fun". The city is awash with standard fun bobbling joints for the young and the old alike. Nairobi is the only city in the world where one can go for a game drive in the wild, thus, weekends out to the Nairobi National Park could be in order. There is also the Nairobi Safari Walk, Animal orphanage, a giraffe and an elephant sanctuary, where one could get to kiss a giraffe lip to lip. For a cultural night out a visit to the Bomas of Kenya, will leave you thrilled and educated about various Kenyan traditional cultures, music and history. One could also climb Mount Longonot, two hours drive from the city, for skilled climbers, Inspire Kenya will be more than glad to organize her volunteers a climb up Africa's second highest point Mount Kenya. The mountain's icy peaks of Batian (5199m) and Nelion (5,189m) are accessible only to experienced mountaineers, Kenyans are uniquely hospitable people, intelligent and out going. Qualifications:
This program would perfectly suit those aspiring to be aggressive future radio reporters and or presenters reporters. The media house likes aggressive and innovative journalists or journalism students with an acute nose for news, someone who can blend fast in a new environment. Great opportunity for someone in or aspiring to work in electronic Journalism. This placement would give a unique and different experience for the participants C.V. This placement does have restrictions on it set by the Radio Station's management and they tend to only take people who have some media connection.
