Description: Expanish Quarter Programs (ten or fourteen weeks long) based in Buenos Aires combine Spanish courses with weekly cultural activities, workshops from rock climbing to photography with locals outside of the classroom, three weekend excursions to Iguazú Falls, Mendoza, and Colonia, Uruguay, and the option of living with a local family or local students. Students can focus on Spanish language acquisition through their courses and their "intercambio," who acts as their language exchange partner. In addition, participants have the option of an internship or volunteer placement. Expanish works with a variety of organizations and businesses. Students are placed according to their interests and qualifications.

Expanish instead expands the student experience by providing the opportunity for cultural integration through internship and volunteer placements, skill workshops, weekend excursions, homestays, and daily activities with native Latin Americans outside of the traditional collegiate setting. Student learning is facilitated through practical experiences with the language, in addition to classroom instruction.

Moreover, our local bilingual staff does not simply administer our study abroad programs; they attend activities and weekend trips with students, plan excursions from an insider's perspective, and are always on hand to give students recommendations or answer questions about local culture and language. Qualifications: Students wishing to participate in an Expanish Internship Placement as a part of their Quarter Abroad must have an advanced level of Spanish. The duration of the internship is for a minimum of eight weeks.
