Athena Study Abroad: Study and Intern in London, England

  England
  • London:
  • London

Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Dates: Spring: Jan-Apr; Fall: Early Sept - Mid Dec

Description: Athena's London Internship semester takes place at the Marist London Center, located in a diplomatic enclave of Chelsea-Kensington-South Kensington area of London, England. This innovative technology-based program provides students with the opportunity to go beyond the traditional boundaries of study abroad by incorporating practical work experience into their study abroad semester.

Students will focus on areas that match their academic interests, objectives, and career goals. The internship placement will enhance the student's experience and exposure to the host culture by immersing students into the work and social environment of their field of interest.

An internship coordinator will make all placement arrangements including identifying sites, setting up interviews and appointments and providing supervision. Internships can be arranged in several academic areas. This work immersion experience will provide students with an opportunity to hone their skills, be exposed to a new environment, and develop a network in their area of interest.

Students will be housed in student dormitory buildings in the diplomatic enclave of the Kensington-Chelsea area in London. The Metrogate dormitory building is opposite Imperial College in London.

Athena Study Abroad's Mission Statement: Athena was developed in an effort to bring study abroad back to what it was intended to be - true, cultural immersion programs designed by knowledgeable, caring professionals. Athena programs are different in that students are enrolled at small schools overseas in an effort to maintain the personalized service throughout the semester that Athena prides itself on providing. Unlike many other study abroad programs, Athena offers its students programs that are focused on intense, cultural immersion which puts them in touch with the locals of their host country, elements of the host culture, and other international students from around the world to ensure a well-rounded, diverse experience. In addition, a percentage of Athena's proceeds are donated to a chosen world charity through our S.O.S. Program (Students Offering Support), which allows students to give back to the world that welcomed them during their semester abroad.
