Internship in International Mobility Portal

  Spain
  • Madrid:
  • Madrid

Term: Throughout the year

Description: Just Landed is an international web portal for people moving to live, work or study abroad. In our central office in Madrid, we offer several internship positions for people who want to help us expand our project.

Internship Position 1: Launch a new territory

The objective of this internship is to launch a new territory for the company. You will be provided with a template and guidance on the steps to take, and supported throughout the process. Tasks will include:

- Market research and evaluation for the territory
- Scheduling and planning the launch
- Writing a guide and/or finding, pitching and doing deals with content partners to create one
- Organising internal review and production. Scheduling translation and managing it, if applicable
- Learning how to use a content management system and then publishing the new territory
- Completing pre-launch steps
- Launch and follow-up activities

You will get to see a complete launch process from start to finish and get valuable experience in terms of what it means to take a product to market.

Internship Position 2: Advertising Marketing & Sales

This is a pure sales position for individuals wanting to get real-world experience of direct marketing and sales. This internship would include the following elements:

- Review and explication of the current marketing collateral, sales processes and approach.
- Coaching on how to target, prepare, execute and follow-up a direct marketing campaign.
- Launch of several targeted marketing campaigns into different sectors.
- Follow-up on generated leads.
- Direct customer contact (by phone), negotiation and closing.
- Implementation of closed campaigns for the customer, follow-up and reporting.

The idea is to give an intern a taste of what the business development process is like and get them out there to turn theory into practice when it comes to business generation. Any successes in terms of deals closed by an intern will be shared with him/her on a generous commission basis. In our experience a motivated and capable individual should be able cover their living costs without any problems. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any guarantees. We cannot accept to work with anyone who will be forced to rely on their own success to survive.

Internship Position 3: Product Development (Technical position)

This is a business/technical position where you would be directly involved in the release cycle of the website. Tasks will range from functionality specification, bug tracking, release planning, review, test to actual development. You need to have a good dose of the following skills:

*NIX administration (FreeBSD a bonus)
PHP
MySQL
HTML, JavaScript, CSS et al.

You might not have formal qualifications this is not a problem but you will need to have the basic blocks of knowledge in place to be able to learn effectively in this position. For majors in non-technical areas who have picked up some technology, this could be a great opportunity to learn in a real-world environment and broaden your skills-set.

Internship Position 4: Online Marketing

Responsible for running a range of activities to increase the online visibility of the Company, including:

- Online community development and management (in particular forums and classifieds).
- Participation in the development process for new community-oriented functionality.
- Outbound partner development to increase the presence of the company on other websites.
- Content development.
- Link development.
- Analysis and reporting of site use to identify positive and negative trends and turn these into recommendations for further activity.

This internship will give hands-on experience of both the strategic and practical side of developing a website's online marketing. As well as implementing current activities, you will be expected to come up with new ideas, be creative and drive new initiatives.

Internship Position 5: Writer/Editor

You will be assigned a specific country (or countries) to attack with the following process:

- Evaluate the current content, identify positive and negative aspects and detail out what is missing or needs fixing.
- Plan and prioritize content work.
- Contact potential external contributors (existing and/or new) and work with them for content production. Edit copy and publish it.
- Organize and manage translation activity (if applicable).
- Research, write and publish articles.
- Learn how to use an online content management system and publish in a live production environment.

This internship will give practical experience of the content lifecycle for online publishing. Having responsibility end-to-end for taking content onto a live site will highlight the challenges and requirements for online media and give a strong grounding in some important skills.

Highlights: The company: Three-year-young Madrid-based startup focused on helping people move country to study, work or live abroad. The company runs a website that provides useful information, products and services to its visitors (who are looking at over a million pages a month). The atmosphere is informal, egalitarian and fun. We prefer people with lots of initiative and the capability to be self-starters when it comes to problem-solving and working out how to get things done. A self-critical and achievement-driven approach to work and quality is highly valued. You will be given as much responsibility as you prove you can handle.

Internships:

* Will be planned out and progress reviewed on a regular basis throughout the internship.

* Our goal is to make sure an intern leaves us having learnt useful skills and with a valuable professional experience to take with them. A successful intern should leave behind them some lasting achievements.

* Are flexible in terms of length, hours and the periods worked. We recognize the value of an individual's commitment to us, so will plan around his/her other commitments.

* All internships may have some extra elements included in them so an intern gets some different experiences (examples include customer support, managing the online shop, handling inbound enquiries and some of the day-to-day tasks of an office.) Interns will not be expected to get someone else's coffee or lunch!

* Are non-paid unless they contain a sales element. This will be on commission and paid on receipt of funds from customers. Over-achievers may be offered a discretionary bonus payment if they go beyond the call of duty.

* We will certify an internship and provide references.

Qualifications:
- Excellent level of written English (native preferred).
- High ability with MS Office (especially Word, Excel and Outlook) or other office productivity tools (OpenOffice, Thunderbird, etc.).
- Excellent understanding of how websites work (not the technical piece) from the point of view of a regular, extensive and advanced user of at least 6 different online services.
- The ability to learn quickly, absorb and understand new concepts, then apply them to practical tasks.

Additional points:
