Description: Intern in Chile is an independent program whereby candidates gain real international work experience while immersing themselves in another culture. The program begins with a three week intensive Spanish course with local Chilean teachers. Candidates will then participate in 4 hour a day internships in small to mid-sized, Chilean-owned companies or organisations. Part of the application process is a phone interview to ensure that candidates are placed in the Sector that best corresponds to them. We can usually guarantee placement. The program is not competitive and we place year round, starting the first Monday of each month.

In the Chilean Public Health System we are able to place interns with health care backgrounds. It is here that their studies and their budding knowledge and their desire to help others can be delivered the most effectively, and to a great extent to a largely underserved population who needs it most. We can place candidates in Hospitals and in Emergency Room settings. There are also places where candidates who have not yet finished, or perhaps who have not yet quite decided on this field, can be placed. In both, candidates will be able to observe and assist those who are working hands on, directly with patients.

Within rehab and physical therapy, in Chile known primarily as "Kinesiologia" we have several institutions that will accept our candidates and that offer the ability for them to experience this growing sector first hand in an international setting.

Participation in this program will massively upgrade your Resume and provide the ability to become fluent in Spanish. All candidates have a Spanish Supervisor at their work assignments, plus an English-speaking Intern Advisor living in Vina. This is a fairly customized program and process, with anywhere from 3 to 10 candidates starting programs each month. Housing is your own room in a shared apartment or a homestay with a Chilean family - you choose (please ask for price differences).

* You will be met at the airport when you arrive in Santiago, Chile, and taken directly to your lodging
* Internships are for approximately 4 hours each day, 5 days per week

* You can become fluent in Spanish, especially during the longer programs

Qualifications: Program candidates should be 18 or older and possess a desire to learn about and live in another culture. Some Spanish is necessary. Candidates should be at college level or graduate level. For some health care positions, some previous experience is required.

Qualities required are: dependability for your work assignment, courage for your international living abroad experience and openness to all the new people and experiences you will encounter.
