Description:
Interns at the Cloud Forest School work full time as teaching assistants in a classroom alongside a mentor teacher. Interns help with all aspects of the classroom, including preparation, management, planning and teaching lessons, and leading small groups or working one-on-one with students. Interns may work in grades ranging from 1st/2nd (mixed) to 11th grade. Occasionally there is availability to intern with Environmental Education, ESL, or Special Education for those with experience and interest. Interns are encouraged to begin in July or January. The Cloud Forest School is a progressive, private K-11 school. We educate 220 local children, over half of whom recieve significant scholarship in order to attend our school. We focus on bi-lingual and environmental education, which are intergrated into all facets of the curriculum.

Work in the beautifully forested community of Monteverde! We're located a mile high in the Tilaran Mountains of Costa Rica, in the cloud forest. Our school is a great work environment!
Qualifications:
Interns must be at least 18 years old and High School graduates. Interns must be native English speakers. Interns must be able to stay for at least 3 months, although they are encouraged to stay for longer if possible! Experience working with children is required. Teaching experience is not required. Spoken Spanish is helpful, but not required.

Cost Include Description:
The Internship fee includes a homestay (providing private room, 3 meals a day, and laundry), and Spanish classes. Homestay experiences are an excellent way to practice one's Spanish and learn about Tico culture. The fee also includes professional development via school seminars, workshops, and meetings, a free pass to the local Parks and Reserves, email access, local phone calls, daily bus transportation between your homestay and school, orientation, supervision, and support, and two trips a semester!
