Teaching Assistant Internship
Costa Rica
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Dates: July-December, Jan-March (3 months minimum, extensions possible)
Description:
Interns at the Cloud Forest School work full time as teaching assistants in a classroom alongside a mentor teacher. Interns help with all aspects of the classroom, including preparation, management, planning and teaching lessons, and leading small groups or working one-on-one with students. Interns may work in grades ranging from 1st/2nd (mixed) to 6th grade with a homeroom teacher, or in a subject-specific academic classroom in the high school. We also welcome interns for our Special Education and Environmental Education programs. Interns are encouraged to begin in July or January, and are required to commit for at least 3 months. Interns live in homestays with local families and have Spanish classes and professional development workshops after school to help them improve their Spanish and integrate fully into the rural community of Monteverde. The Cloud Forest School is a progressive, private K-11 school. We educate 225 children, over 75% of whom receive significant scholarship in order to attend our school. Our student body is 90%+ local.
