Description: Many Peruvians are still deprived of public health care. With a majority of hospitals located in the major cities, it is difficult for the poor people in rural areas to access health care benefits. As a volunteer in Peru working in our Health Project, you will support the local doctors and nurses in the health centers. You will use your medical skills to treat patients: check blood pressure, weigh babies, and help with other routine first-aid procedures. Your work in the health center is a 30-36 hour a week commitment.

Highlights: Medical Center is where they perform consults and deal with emergencies. It's a small clinic that's meant for the poorer population of different locations.

You can help! We need general doctors, dentists, obstetrics, psychologists, lab-workers, nurses, ophthalmologist and technical nurses as well as medical students of all kinds!

Qualifications:
- You must be a medical or nurse student.
- Placement in health projects requires notarized documentation of your medical school, nursing school, or other medical credentials.

Cost Include Description:
What does the program fee cover?

* Food: The program fee covers three local meals a day - breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Monday to Saturday.

* Accommodation: We offer clean, comfortable living spaces, and volunteers will stay either in a single or shared room (depending on the host situation).

* Meet and greet upon your arrival with transfer to your placement: Upon receive your flight information, our coordinator will meet volunteers at the airport or bus station in the town of placement.

* Support of local coordinator: From the very beginning to the end of the project, Awaiting Angels coordinator will help volunteers by supporting them and regularly visiting them.

* Information Packet: Awaiting Angels offers detailed information on issues that will concern volunteers, such as health, safety, and cultural shocks.

* Orientation: The first day of your arrival you will receive local information about your program, transportation, safety.
