Reading Retreats in Rural Italy's Mission Statement: Reading Retreats in Rural Italy was founded in 1996 by American Clark Lawrence as a kind of B&B for bibliophiles. The association runs relaxing holidays for people from all over the world as well as art exhibitions, classical music concerts, theatrical performances and other cultural events. The castle is a community where everyone chips in and helps, working, eating and living together, learning about people, art, music, gardening, food and Italian life.

    Year Founded: 1996
