The Arcadia University Center for Education Abroad can help you achieve an incomparable overseas study experience through this special program that enables you to complete an internship with a member of the Scottish Parliament, as well as undertake academic coursework in British and Scottish politics and government at the University of Edinburgh. Through the University of Edinburgh's Scottish Parliamentary Internship, you can enjoy a unique opportunity to help make history by working with members of the Scottish Parliament who are sitting to enact their own laws for the first time since 1707. If you learn by doing and are a student of government, law, politics, history, economics or sociology, an internship in the Scottish parliament may be right for you. Our internship program enables you to immerse yourself in the culture, history and politics of Scotland through engaging academic courses and the opportunity to complete significant research under the direction of a member of the Scottish Parliament. While the internship is intensive, there will be time for a life beyond work but with an added plus. You will achieve a level of integration with your host country that is available to only a few while gaining valuable working experience. Credits Courses may be selected among various departments. You will earn the following hours of credit. * Fall and spring semester: 15 credits. Admission Requirements GPA Requirements: 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. You must be in good academic standing and not on disciplinary probation. You need to submit a complete application including a transcript, letter of recommendation, and an advisor's form before your application will be considered. Before you go, you can contact our program manager for advice on the application process, choosing courses, or simply what you should pack. Once you arrive, our resident director will lead an orientation program in Edinburgh that will introduce you to the culture, history and politics of Scotland as well as prepare you for the academic challenges of studying in a different educational system. During the semester, you can expect to participate in excursions that are designed to allow you to reflect on the learning that is taking place outside the classroom. The Scottish Parliamentary Internship will give you the momentous advantage of being a part of history in the making. As Scottish representatives sit to enact their own laws for the first time since 1707, you'll be able to work side-by-side with a member of the Scottish Parliament and complete important research that will contribute to the development of Scottish political life.
