Description: Specially conceived for the needs of students, we offer long term courses and short term ones. The three-year Academic Course is our most complete course at the end of which you will have the necessary knowledge to start a professional career on your own. One-year Academic Course introduces to basics of Photojournalism, Advertisement and Fashion Photography. Academic courses are held in the evening also. Short courses start every month and they introduce to the world of Photography.

Our professional photography programs are of a high standard and they are conceived to give you the highest understanding of light, composition, aesthetics and use of modern techniques and gears. Special attention is given to recognize and improve your natural skills. We believe in practical experience so a great deal of time is given to darkroom and field work.

The courses are tailored for beginners who want to learn and have fun about photography as well as for the experienced who want to become professionals, learning how to solve technical and esthetical problems. For example, from the very first lesson we teach how to shoot without the help of a light-meter as well as making images with the latest digital technologies.

Our programs will help you to study every technique that's helpful to express your creativity, both in the darkroom and on the computer. Tomorrow you may need that little knowledge to solve a new matter for your works.

Highlights: The Darkroom offers a wide range of services in order to facilitate students before and after their arrival, and make them feel at home during their stay in Florence. Before students leave their country, the school helps them to choose the most suitable program for their needs and complete the enrollment procedure. The school gives students advice for any matter regarding their stay in Florence, providing assistance in finding accommodation in students' apartments, in families, hotels and youth hostels. The Darkroom offers students the possibility to combine photography courses with Italian language courses. This program provides language courses in the morning and photography lessons in the afternoon. Upon students arrival the school will make available all the information concerning local services such as trains, buses, museums, restaurants, shops, concerts and shows. Moreover, the school provides assistance for the visa procedure, the opening of a bank account and medical assistance. Finally the school offers access to cooking courses and Internship programs in different fields of the Italian market. The school is situated in the centre of Florence, only a ten-minute walk from Ponte Vecchio and the railway station.

Qualifications: Photography Courses, in English and Italian, are held for all year long and prepare students to the Profession of Photographer. Intensive courses start every month (basic, intermediate, advanced and specialization levels), Academic courses start in October and end in June and evening courses start every three months. Free use of darkrooms 24 hours a day for enrolled students. At the end of each course students will get a Certificate of Participation (Diploma). The Darkroom gives documents to get VISA for the entire course's duration.

Photography Workshops, in English and Italian are short, held usually during weekend, weekly and monthly. Some of the topics are: Photo reportage, Digital Photography, B&W Developing and Printing, The Fine Art B&W Print, Infrared Photography, Black & White Toners, The Large Format Camera, Glamour, Still Life, Architecture, 1800's Printing Techniques Darkrooms for Rent are open 24 hours per day, every day, all the year long. Two darkrooms are available for ten professional enlargers. The darkrooms are equipped for fine art black & white and color processes.
