Whitman Management Internships in Spain

  Spain
  • Madrid:
  • Madrid

Term: Summer
Dates: May 27- July 13

Description: This program places graduate and undergraduate management students with a good knowledge of Spanish in carefully selected commercial or financial firms in Madrid. Sponsor companies include banks, exchanges, consulting firms, brokerage firms, transportation and tourism companies.

The primary component of the program is a seven-week internship. The internships are designed for students with a strong working knowledge of Spanish. Students are responsible for completing real projects typical of those assigned to management graduates in entry-level positions. Some firms may rotate the student through several departments, while others may emphasize a more focused experience in a single department.

Every effort is made to place interns in positions that match their primary career interests, although this cannot always be guaranteed.

Interns are expected to adapt to the working environment and regulations of their firm, adhering to the hours required of full-time employees. Each students work assignment and experience will be unique; and all students will gain the invaluable experience of performing meaningful work in a financial or commercial environment.

Highlights: Faculty and students travel to northern Spain during the first long weekend of the program. During the trip students have an opportunity to get to know each other, interact with faculty, adapt to the new environment and work together in group activities like white water rafting, horseback riding, and even attend a bagpipe concert!

Qualifications: Participants must have completed at least three years of college in a program that includes management courses. Although most interns are business or management students, serious and highly motivated students with other majors will be given full consideration. Graduate students in management disciplines are eligible for the program after completing one year of graduate work. Knowledge of the Spanish language is necessary.
