This Institute is 12 years old specializing in investigation and environmental impact. They are a recognized leading Institute turned to for R & D on the environment. * Opportunities include: - Sustainable Development Projects - Marine Biology - Tropical Ecology Adelante provides a low cost internship program in San Jose, Costa Rica, with a focus on cultural immersion and real-life experience in an international setting. This program is for independent-minded people looking for a real living abroad experience. Airport pickup, orientation, housing, Spanish classes and internship placement all included in the program fee. Intern in Costa Rica is an independent program whereby candidates gain real international work experience while immersing themselves in another culture. The program begins with a three week intensive Spanish course with local Costa Rican teachers. Candidates will then participate in a 4 hour a day internship in a small to mid-sized, Costa Rican-run company or organisation. Part of the application process is a phone interview to ensure that candidates are placed in the sector that works best for them - we can usually guarantee placement. The Adelante program is not competitive and we place year round, starting the first Monday of each month. Participation in this program will massively upgrade your resume and provide the opportunity to become fluent in Spanish. All candidates have a local Supervisor at their work assignments, plus an English-speaking Adelante Advisor living in San Jose. This is a fairly customized program and process, with anywhere from 3 to 10 candidates starting programs each month. Housing is your own room in a family homestay meals and laundry are included. This program is for independent-minded people looking for a real living abroad experience. There are numerous Internships and Sectors to choose from and we are always adding more. You will gain real, international work experience to add to your resume, and you can become bi-lingual if you apply yourself. Instead of just visiting, as a tourist, you will be living and working in Costa Rica -- there is really no other way to truly learn the language and the culture...
Highlights:
** The amount of time you choose to intern is flexible, with program lengths ranging from 2 to 12 months ** This can be a non-academic or academic internship - you decide. All candidates who have sought to receive credit for this program have done so. ** Extensive Pre-Departure Orientation and counseling ** You will be met at the airport when you arrive in San Jose, and taken directly to your housing ** 3 weeks, 4 hours per day, of intensive Spanish language classes are included in the fee ** 2 - 3 excursions are included during your intensive Spanish coursework. ** This program is designed to be 50% work experience and 50% cultural / language acquisition and immersion. ** Lodging is included. Live with a local Costa Rican family, meals included. ** Internships are for 4 hours each day in small to mid-sized, Costa Rican-run companies or organisations. You will gain real, international work experience to add to your resume. ** The participating companies we work with represent a growing variety of Sectors including environmental, architecture, tourism, business, law, and many more. We are also happy to approach a specific company and create a new Sector on your behalf. ** The Adelante Director in San Jose is English speaking and is available to you for support and assistance should you need it.
Qualifications:
Program candidates should be 18 or older and possess a desire to learn about and live in another culture. Some Spanish knowledge and experience in the environmental sector are preferred. Candidates should be at college level or graduate level, though we have some "gap-year" candidates. Qualities required are: dependability for your work assignment, courage for your international living abroad experience and openness to all the new people and experiences you will encounter.
Cost in US$: From USD 3,365 to USD 5,775 for 2-6 months, plus USD 150 non-refundable application fee.
Cost Include Description:
