Description:
International internships in Australia and New Zealand provide professional experience beyond many domestic opportunities because companies are smaller and thus interns are exposed to a wider variety of job duties. Internships are the ultimate way to immerse yourself into a culture. These opportunities offer the best way to connect the theories you learn in the classroom to their practice in the field. AustraLearn offers internships with or without credit in Australia and New Zealand in every field of study and gives 24/7 on-site support including a group orientation upon arrival in country. We custom build internship placements to meet participants needs, and bring our experience as the largest and oldest study abroad provider in Australia and New Zealand to ensure a great internship experience. We have had over 200 internship placements in the past in every field and we continue to add new placements. If none of those internships matches what you are looking for, just let us know and we will go find one that does. During the application process, you would write a cover letter detailing what kind of company you would like to work for and the kind of job tasks you are looking for. We will then send that to our staff in Australia and New Zealand and they will take it to a number of companies to find the best fit for you. This real-world program requires a great deal of independence as well as an ability to solve real-world challenges. Much of your time abroad may be spent apart from other North Americans and young people. You will be expected to leave the campus life behind in order to enter fully into the workplace atmosphere and achieve your professional goals. It is important to us that your internship program provides the most value for your time and money, therefore we have taken great care in establishing placements which will allow you to grow as an individual both professionally and personally. Because we recognize that individuals have varying requirements for internship experience, we have three different program models as outlined in the following pages. The three program types differ in structure, length, and what is included. Program #1: The 10-week pre-set Professional Development for Academic Credit (PDAC) internships have four specific pre-set start and end dates each year. Our group Bridging Cultures orientation is included, allowing interns to meet other participants that will be in the country at the same time. Six credits from Chapman University in Orange, CA are also included. Program #2: The Custom Date Internship Program is designed for those who are looking for an internship outside the dates offered by the PDAC and PDNC programs. Interns can select their own start and end dates for an internship lasting 6-26 weeks. No academic credit is included but can be arranged through an intern's home university. Program #3: The Professional Development for No Credit (PDNC) internship is a pre-set 6 week internship each summer offering our group Bridging Cultures orientation and no academic credit. Part-time internship/study options are available at a variety of universities in New Zealand. While taking one or two courses at a university, a student will participate in a 15-20 hour internship in a specific field of study. Contact us for more information about all our internship options.
