Argentina
- Buenos Aires:
Buenos Aires
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Description:
Since 1950, IES has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in almost 30 programs throughout the world. IES internships are offered as academic options earning IES credit. Internships feature a strong academic component that includes an academic seminar introducing interns to the legal, social, and cultural aspects of the Argentine work environment, and offering them a forum for discussing and analyzing their experiences. Students are expected to keep a work journal and submit a final report that analyzes and evaluates the activities performed during the internship. The internship also includes an evaluative report from the supervisor of the organization offering the internship. Internships are available in the fields of business, education, human rights, and the arts.
Highlights:
Poised between the sweeping Río de la Plata and the legendary pampas, Buenos Aires is home to one-third of Argentina's population of 38 million. Their lives make Buenos Aires the hub of public debate, political action, and reform movements. The capital city's wide avenues, sprawling parks, and elegant 19th century Parisian-style architecture compose one picture. Another view catches narrow, crowded side streets, graffiti and political posters, and the grit of a modern metropolis. Here the soulful strains of tango came to life more than 100 years ago and continue to speak for Argentina.
