Description: Fast Forward Institute, in partnership with the Hospital of Tropical Diseases and the Federal University of the State of Alagoas in Maceio, Brazil, and the Hospital das Clinicas in Sao Paulo, Brazil offers two specialized study abroad medical internship programs on Tropical Diseases and Plastic Surgery.

During this internship, students see the treatment of tropical diseases and the practice of plastic surgery in real life in Brazil by accompanying doctors to their clinics and hospitals. The program includes seminars, language training, supervised research and field excursions that have been developed jointly by Fast Forward Institute and the local health ministry. Time spent in the hospitals will purely be for observation; students will not be performing in any medical procedures.

The main goals of the medical internship programs are improving the students' knowledge of Portuguese language while opening their eyes to Brazilian culture and the practice of medicine there.

Students may join a regularly scheduled program during the summer or a program may be offered any time of the year for groups.

Qualifications: Both programs are designed for currently practicing medical professionals as well as students of medicine, nursing or public health.
