Description:
The Mountbatten Institute provides graduates and young professionals with cutting-edge international business experience through one-year paid work experience placements (internships) in London. Mountbatten places interns in companies ranging from large multinational organizations to small businesses. Placements focus on the investment banking and financial services industry, but also include positions in HR, marketing and communications, IT, and law.
Complementing their work experience, all trainees participate in a course of study focused on developing global managerial competencies. Trainees choose between an MBA degree in International Business Practice or a Certificate in International Business Practice.
[i] MBA in International Business Practice: Developed by the Mountbatten Institute in conjunction with American International College (AIC), School of Business Administration in Springfield, MA, the MBA provides exposure to core business practices and management theories within an international context.
MBA Part I: Through weekend seminars (approx. 21), evening classes, online tutorials, and individual/group based assignments and presentations, trainees complete 7 courses leading to 21 graduate credits. The sessions cover a full MBA curriculum with courses ranging from leadership and entrepreneurship to international finance. Trainees who successfully pass all aspects of Part I will receive the Diploma in International Business Practice from American International College.
MBA Part II: Following the London year, trainees who followed the MBA track may opt to complete the full degree (worth 18 graduate credits) through an intensive semester of academic study in Bangkok, Thailand. This segment builds on the understanding of business theory and techniques acquired during Part I, and expands this understanding by focusing on Asian markets. Trainees who successfully pass all aspects of the MBA program (including the residential semester in Bangkok) will receive a fully accredited MBA degree in International Business Practice awarded by American International College (AIC).
Financial assistance in the form of Federal Loans is available to eligible applicants [MBA degree program only].
[ii] Certificate in International Business Practice: Trainees attend 6-8 study weekends while integrating two units of a Cambridge Management Award (Managing Teams and Managing Information), offered by Cambridge International Examinations. Upon successful completion of the year, trainees receive the Certificate in International Business Practice awarded by the Mountbatten Institute. The Certificate does not carry US academic credit.
